Emergency crews were called to a building on Kananaski Street at approximately 9.30pm on August 29. Upon arrival, they found the victim, a 25-year-old man from Saskatchewan, unresponsive in the hot tub. Power was cut and crews performed CPR and other life-saving techniques, but the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. Canmore Fire-Rescue Chief Lance Boushie says the incident is under investigation because officials believe faulty wiring may have played a role. “The facility is a combination of ownership and Airbnb. They have a hot tub that’s shared on the rental side of the property,” he told CTV News in an interview Wednesday. Boushie says there were people in the water just before the victim went in. “They noticed something was wrong, but then the gentleman got into the tub and succumbed to what appears to be a stray urge.” The victim’s name has not been released. Boushie adds that the agency extends its condolences to the family and friends of the victim of the tragic incident.
