2 Other Men Charged With Murder In Hamilton S Violent Abduction Police Say

The two men, from Hamilton, were arrested Wednesday and now face charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder, kidnapping and aggravated battery in connection with the incident early on September 16, 2021. Hamilton police say 21-year-old Hasnain (Nano) Ali and his brother were shot while trying to protect their father from kidnappers at a home in the Mount Hope neighborhood. Police allege the kidnappers took off in an SUV with 63-year-old father Faqir Ali, who was later found severely beaten near a lift bridge on Beach Boulevard. His wife and daughter were also in the house, but were not injured. Police say the two adult sons were taken to the hospital and Hasnain died. On Wednesday, investigators arrested John Barley, 25, and Gino McCall, 35. In October, Antoine Chambers was arrested and charged with attempted murder. In October, Det. Sgt. Steve Bereziuk said police are still investigating the motive behind the attack, but said money was involved. “The accused was looking for money from Mr Ali. I will not say exactly how much money, but apparently an amount was demanded and no money has ever been secured,” he said. “They didn’t achieve their ultimate goal, so that’s very much the focus of our investigation.” Faqir Ali was taken from his home near Glancaster Road and Dickenson Road in Mount Hope around 3am. on September 16, 2021.
