Thanks for your company and emails – good night! “As a United fan,” says Liz White, “I’m fine with a dull capacity to be honest.” Reaction after the match Christian Eriksen It hasn’t been pretty for 90 minutes, but we have three wins. We want to do better, but it’s a good start. It was similar to Southampton – we have to kill the game early or it will be tight at the end. The games keep on coming – Thursday/Sunday until after the World Cup. Jadon Sancho It was a great team goal, I’m glad we got the three points. I’m getting more comfortable. It was good to meet the team in pre-season – I missed it last year – and we worked on a few things. It was a forgettable game, settled by a classy goal from Jadon Sancho. It’s too early to say United are back, but Erik ten Hag will be pleased with back-to-back clean sheets away from home. The last time it happened in the league was in March 2021. Casemiro was good when he came on and the new centre-back pairing of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane was impressive again. Leicester played well enough in the middle of the pitch but lacked belief in the final third. They need a win ASAP.

Final: Leicester 0-1 Manchester United

Peep peep! Manchester United moved up to fifth place after their third consecutive win. 90+3 minutes: Great opportunity for Leicester! A long forward ball is expertly touched by Daka to Justin in the gap to his right. He takes a touch but then shoots high and wide from the edge of the area. This was Leicester’s best chance of the game. Updated at 21.51 BST 90+2 mins After a good move from Leicester, Maddison shoots from 20 yards with his left foot. He made space well, got away from Casemiro, but then lifted his shot over the top. 90 minutes Four minutes of added time. 89 min United’s control of the game has been much greater since Casemiro came on. Fernandes moves down the right and whistles a cross that hits the outstretched Iheanacho and flies just over the bar. 87 mins: Man Utd change Fred for Marcus Rashford. 87 min: Change for Leicester Patson Daka replaces Jamie Vardy. 87 min Vardy booked for dissent after being penalised, probably harshly, for a tackle on Malaysia. 86 min This is a better spell for United, who have spent most of the last few minutes in Leicester’s half. 84 min Fernandes slides a through ball down the inside-right channel to Ronaldo, who whistles a low cross/shot that eludes Eriksen in the middle. Ronaldo looks sharp tonight. 83 minutes Dewsbury-Hall with a long shot blocked by Martinez. United break and Dalot lifts a cross to Ronaldo beyond the far post. He launches into a scissor kick that goes to the ground before bouncing over Ward and a few feet wide. 82 min Fernandes lobs Thomas and pings out to Rashford on the left. Plays in Ronaldo, who tries to give Eriksen an open goal with a low first cross. Nicely cut by a sliding defender, Ndidi I think. United win the ball back and Rashford mistimes a left-footed shot from 15 yards. Updated at 21.42 BST 81 min Nothing happens. It was a strangely bloodless game. 78 min Thomas does well to stop Dalot’s low pass/cross that finds Eriksen in the box. 76 min Casemiro played well, bringing some composure and authority to United’s midfield. He takes the ball a lot. Meanwhile, Leicester bring on Kelechi Iheanacho for Youri Tielemans. This should mean a change to 4-4-2. Updated at 21.34 BST 73 min Dangerous ball from Fernandes to Dalot, well saved by Evans. A stat on BT Sport shows that Leicester had just seven touches in United’s area all night. 71 minutes Barnes runs Dalot into the area and tries to cross six yards. Dalot slides in to block, the ball goes past Barnes and out for goal. Varane and Martinez come straight over to congratulate Dalot, which is either a sign of improved team spirit or a slightly disproportionate reaction to winning a goal. 70 mins This was an extremely forgettable game. 68 min: Substitution for United Cristiano Ronaldo replaces Jadon Sancho, who scored a fine goal but was otherwise fairly quiet. Marcus Rashford will move to the left wing. 67 min Maddison’s free-kick hits the wall. 65 min McTominay hands Maddison on the edge of the D, a dangerous foul to concede. This is an opportunity for Leicester. Updated at 21.23 BST 64 min Barnes turns Dalot and plays the ball to Vardy, whose return pass falls aimlessly. United are asking for trouble with their passive second-half display. 62 min Leicester continue to dominate possession, although Casemiro has already made two or three decent cuts. 59 min: Change for United Casemiro replaces Anthony Elanga. This means that Eriksen will move to No10 and Fernandes to the right wing. Casemiro is on. Photo: Manchester United/Getty Images Updated 21.27 BST 58 min Vardy reverses a good return pass to Maddison who can’t do it on the edge of the area. Martinez cleans up. Updated at 9.15pm BST 57 mins Casemiro is getting ready to play.
