The construction zone along McKay Street is now cordoned off and blocked off where it is believed the vehicle carrying six young adults fell into a large concrete pit in the road.
The question remains to what extent, if any, the hole and the surrounding area between Veterans Drive and County Road 27 was plugged.
Friends said the group of six were heading to the casino in Innisfil but lost contact with them around 6am on Saturday. Police issued a missing persons report later that night and discovered the scene of the crash at 2 a.m. Sunday
Jersey Mitchell, Hayley Marin, Curtis King, River Wells, Luke West and Jason Ono-O’Connor have been identified as the victims.
Among the flowers and memorials placed at a memorial near the crash site is a message from the father to the daughter he will never see again.
It says, “Daddy loves you so much Jersey. You will always be my heart, my soul, my girl. You are me. Nothing will ever be the same.”
