On a picnic day on Sunday, 15 family members visited Ramdaha Falls in Chhattisgarh. Shraddha and Shweta Singh, sisters aged 14 and 22, entered the water to take a picture. Shraddha then lost her legs, witnesses said. Other family members, including their brother Himanshu Singh, 18, cousin Rishabh Singh, 24, and his wife Sulekha Singh, 22, jumped in to try to pull the sisters to safety.
