A Kelowna man is facing charges after he allegedly hit a bicyclist and ran off late Thursday afternoon. According to police, a female bicyclist was riding on KLO Road across from Okanagan College when she was struck by a vehicle that then fled the scene. A passing motorist helped the injured woman before BC Ambulance arrived and took her to hospital. RCMP Const. Mike Della-Paolera says witnesses at the scene identified the vehicle and provided police with a description of the driver and license plate number. Mounties recognized the driver at his home and arrested him. He was charged with failure to stop after a traffic accident and may face other charges pending further investigation. “Without the witnesses stopping to help and providing the RCMP with important information, this investigation and arrest of the driver could not have been done so quickly,” Della-Paolera said. If you have any information and have yet to speak with the RCMP or have dash cam footage, please contact the Kelowna RCMP at (250) 762-3300.
